On July 24, 2017, the Summer School on Intellectual Property Law opened, organized by the European Law Students Association (ELSA) and Sakpatenti, during which 40 students from 14 European Union countries will attend a one-week academic study course on “Intellectual property Law”.
During the period of the course, students of the European and Georgian universities will listen to lectures delivered by Sakpatenti top officials and sectoral specialists on mechanisms of legal protection of intellectual property subject-matters and tools of their international registration. In addition, on the invitation of Sakpatenti, an expert from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will introduce to the Summer School participants WIPO-administered international treaties and, on the basis of these treaties, international mechanisms and procedures of protection of various IP subject-matters. Students will also familiarize with the peculiarities of activities of collective management organizations and court practice of Georgia.
During the study course, Summer School participants will visit Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA) and the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti. At Sakpatenti they will familiarize with its activities and will receive exhaustive information on functioning of the intellectual property system of Georgia.
The annual Summer School of the European Law Students Association (ELSA) will continue till July 29, 20017. Georgia is organizing this event for already the second time, successfully joining 32 countries, where the study course is led by qualified sectoral specialists, who share their experience with excellent students of various countries, facilitating raising their awareness.
