On November 15, 2018, the final stage and the awards ceremony of the young inventors’ competition “Leonardo da Vinci”, organized by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, took place at the exhibition hall of the TBC Bank head office.
Sakpatenti has joined the WIPO-administered program „eFiling“, by means of which Georgian users will be able to file their international applications electronically, which will simplify for them the procedure of extension of trademarks to the member states of the “Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks”.
On November 3, 2018, on the initiative of the Georgian Chamber of Culture, the “Chacha Festival” was founded and held for the first time in Telavi. The event was co-organized and supported by the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti, together with other organizations.
On November 1-15, 2018, Wine exhibition “EXPOVINA” is held in Zurich, the Swiss Confederation, where Georgia participates with the honorary guest status. “EXPOVINA” is the annual wine event, distinguished by its unique locality. The exhibition takes place every autumn on the stationary boats on Lake Zurich. At the event about 4000 varieties of wines from around the world are presented. Up to 65000 wine importers attend the exhibition annually.
On October 24, 2018, the 100000th application for a trademark registration was recorded in Sakpatenti electronic database.
On October 19, 2018, the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti, within the Project “Value of Intellectual Property for SME” – (VIP4SME), funded by the European Union Program for Research and Innovations “Horizon 2020”, is organizing a meeting with patent attorneys and lawyers working in the intellectual property field.
Today, on October 13, 2018, at the third pavilion of Expo Georgia, National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti, together with other private and public organizations, participates in the exhibition “Start-In-Georgia” – “Everything for My Start-up”, organized by Start Business Solutions.
Sakpatenti delegation held meetings with the Director of WIPO Academy, during which the significance of the training programs, offered at Sakpatenti Intellectual Property Training Centre, including the advanced “Training Course on Geographical Indications”, was stressed. The latter was held in Georgia for the second time and again course received high evaluation from the participants and representatives of the WIPO Academy.
On September 19, 2018, registration will start for the WIPO Academy Distance Learning General Course (DL101GE) and interested persons will have an opportunity to pass it already in the Georgian language (see the link: http://www.sakpatenti.gov.ge/ka/page/181/).
On September 17-19, Mr. Sherif Saadallah, Executive Director of WIPO Intellectual Property Academy paid a second official visit to Sakpatenti.
Within the WIPO professional development program, Mr. Saadallah will open the international English-language “Training Course on Geographical Indications”, organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy and the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia Sakpatenti Training Centre, which will be held in Georgia for already the second time.
