Training Course on Geographical Indications

On September 18-22, 2017, an English-language “Training Course on Geographical Indications” is held in Tbilisi, at Sakpatenti Training Centre, organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy and the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia Sakpatenti, within the WIPO professional development program.
During the course, the participants will listen to lectures on geographical indications delivered by Sakpatenti top officials and specialists of relevant fields, will familiarize with mechanisms of legal protection, various protection systems for GIs and international practice. Within the course, group discussions will take place on a number of issues, including branding strategies and the role of geographical indications in this significant process. The participants will also familiarize with international treaties, regulating issues related with GIs.
The course is intended for officials from intellectual property offices of various countries and relevant ministries. It aims to enhance the skills of officers of the fields concerned.
After the completion of the course, the participants from 12 countries will be handed over relevant certificates.
