General Assembly of OriGIn - the Global Alliance of Geographical Indications

On October 17-19, 2017, the global alliance of geographical indications - OriGIn General Assembly, took place in Treviso, Italy. The meeting was attended by representatives of Sakpatenti and “OriGIn – Georgia”.
The Director of “OriGIn – Georgia” delivered a presentation on the activities of “OriGIn – Georgia” and peculiarities of geographical indications protection and rights enforcement in Georgia.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of up to 500 members of OriGIn, including producers of goods protected by geographical indications and other interested parties in this sector.
During the meeting the outcomes of the activities undertaken by the alliance in the last two years were discussed and future plans and priorities were identified.
Special attention was paid to the current challenges faced by the sector, such as protection of GI on the Internet and sustainability.
