Microsoft Offers Companies Service Against Cyber Threats
November 09, 2017
On November 7, 2017, a meeting on intellectual property protection and cybersecurity issues took place at the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti. Mr. Nikoloz Gogilidze, Sakpatenti Chairman, and Mr. Loran Siniore, Director, Central and Eastern European Software Assets Management and Compliance, Microsoft, participated in the meeting.
At the meeting a new initiative of Microsoft was considered which implies offering users a service for protection against cyber threats. In particular, this means assessing what kind of software is used by users, where they need licensing, where there are certain risks which may lead to disclosure of personal information and various cyberattacks. This service will facilitate raising the level of awareness of the public on the importance of licensed products. In addition, users will become aware of the main advantages afforded to them in case of use of legal products.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the current situation in Georgia regarding the issues of IP protection of licensed computer products and outlined plans for further cooperation in the direction of combatting digital piracy and copyright infringements. They also stressed the significance of carrying out joint events in this field, the necessity of informing users about the advantages of licensed products, about international and local experience in cybersecurity as well as legal mechanisms of protection of software in Georgia, which will facilitate raising awareness of users on these issues.
