Sakpatenti is Hosting a Two-Day Workshop

Today, on December 12, 2017, Workshop on IP Enforcement opened at the Office of the National Intellectual Property Center Sakpatenti. The event, organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Sakpatenti, is attended by officials of the customs and investigation services as well as judges. The workshop is led by specialists from Great Britain, Estonia, Moldova, Georgia, and representatives of WIPO and Sakpatenti.
During the meeting practical aspects of investigation and criminal prosecution of trademark counterfeiting and copyright piracy and current challengeswill be discussed, including challenges in the online environment, current legal framework in in the context of international agreements, significance of a balanced approach to the enforcement of IP rights and raising public awareness, as well as other important and topical issues linked with enforcement of intellectual property rights.
Specially for the given Workshop, Sakpatenti translated into the Georgian language and published the WIPO manual for law enforcement authorities and prosecutors “Investigating and Prosecuting IP Crime”, which will assist prosecutors and representatives of law enforcement bodies in criminal prosecution of IP crime. The manual identifies the essential elements related to investigating and prosecuting counterfeiting of trademarks and copyright piracy and analyzes the requirements for successful prosecution.
The Workshop will last two days.
