Hackathon – I Respect IP Rights!

Today, on December 15, 2017, at 21:00 a hackathon – 48-hour marathon - is starting at Sakpatenti. During the event the participants must implement an idea related to the topic of intellectual property rights protection. World intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) announced as the slogan of the year 2017: “Innovation – Improving Lives” and Intellectual Property Offices of the Member States were invited to organize a competition on the above-mentioned topic. Sakpatenti, as the policy-making body in the IP field in Georgia, organized a competition of a hackathon format, in order to explain to the young generation the importance of the intellectual property protection and develop respect for IP rights.
Sakpatenti invited to participate in the competition teams of three 18-25 year old youths, who must write an application, develop software, create a design or any product, which will stimulate, indicate, urge the public to respect IP rights. For the youths participating in the hackathon lectures will be delivered on intellectual property, art of presentation and a way from innovation to business. The winning teams will receive the following awards: the third position – 500-GEL voucher of one of the electronics store, the second position - 1000-GEL voucher, and the first position - 1500-GEL voucher. The team on the first position will also receive the WIPO Cup certifying the victory and information about the team will be circulated to all IP Offices of WIPO Member States. Every innovator participating in the hackathon will be handed over a certificate of participation. The competent Jury will reveal the winner on December 17, at 17:00.
