Visit of Executive Director of WIPO IP Academy Mr. Sherif Saadallah to Georgia

On September 17-19, Mr. Sherif Saadallah, Executive Director of WIPO Intellectual Property Academy paid a second official visit to Sakpatenti.
Within the WIPO professional development program, Mr. Saadallah will open the international English-language “Training Course on Geographical Indications”, organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy and the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia Sakpatenti Training Centre, which will be held in Georgia for already the second time.
It is noteworthy that due to rich experience and knowledge of Georgia in the field, WIPO Academy selected Georgia as first among the countries with the transition economy to conduct professional development program. The course aim is to enhance knowledge of participants in the field and is intended for officials from intellectual property offices of various countries and relevant ministries. The course will be attended by representatives of 13 countries. The Course on Geographical Indications is led by the international experts along with the trainers of Sakpatenti Training Centre, accredited by the WIPO.
During the visit, Mr. Saadallah will announce officially the launching of the WIPO Academy Distance Learning Georgian-language course (DL101GE), which was finalized by Sakpatenti and from September 19, 2018, interested persons will have an opportunity to pass the course already in the Georgian language. Mr. Saadallah will evaluate the successful completion of the project of training of Sakpatenti Training Centre trainers and development of study programs (TOT). As a result of the trainings, Georgian trainers were officially granted the status of accredited trainers of the WIPO Academy and are given an opportunity to participate not only in the projects of Sakpatenti Training Centre, but also in various international training projects, organized by WIPO. Within the visit of Mr. Saadallah, meetings are scheduled with officials of the Government agencies of Georgia, to discuss future cooperation plans with the WIPO Academy.
