Millennium Innovation Competition 2019

On March 28, 2019, the Millennium Challenge Foundation revealed the winning project of the Millennium Innovation Competition. In 2019, five pupils of the team “Obertone” who created the project “Barney Smart Labyrinth” will visit NASA.
The Millennium Innovation Competition, organized by the Millennium Challenge Foundation, is held successfully for already the fifth time. Before revealing the winners, the Commission of Experts selected for the final stage thirteen teams out of thirty. The teams from schools of Tbilisi, Senaki, Kutaisi and Telavi participated in the final, third stage of the Competition.
One of the team participating in the final stage of the competition, “Builders of the Future” (Telavi European School), for the project “Concrete without Cement”, was awarded by Mr. Merab Kutsia, Head, Department of Inventions and New Varieties and Breeds of Sakpatenti, the special prize of Sakpatenti - a 300-GEL voucher for each member of the team.
The Millennium Innovation Competition is aimed to promote implementation of innovative ideas and projects in natural sciences and technologies among youth. This will increase their motivation in the above-mentioned disciplines and will facilitate new achievements in the innovations and technologies field in the country. One of the main objectives of the Project is to assist the winning pupils to deepen their knowledge and establish scientific contacts in future, through connecting them with the private sector and successful scientists.
The Competition is organized by the Millennium Challenge Foundation, with financial support of the United States Embassy in Georgia and in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia and the NASA’s Space Center.
