European Union-Georgia Joint Project on Intellectual Property (EUGIPP)

Today, on February 3, 2020, to initiate elaboration of the first year Action Plan of the European Union-funded project - European Union-Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP), the Project Leader - Mr. Ibon Ormazabal, representative of the European Union Intellectual Property Office’s (EUIPO) Department of International Cooperation and Legal Affairs, paid a working visit to Georgia.
The present Project aims to support the intellectual property system in Georgia, in particular, to advance the trademark and design system and to harmonize it with the EU legislation and practice. The Project will be implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and its main beneficiary is the LEPL National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia SAKPATENTI.
In addition, for other stakeholders involved in the Project, to familiarize with the objectives of the Project and to reflect the relevant views and suggestions in the Action Plan, Mr. Ibon Ormazabal held his first meeting with Georgian patent attorneys. During the visit, he will also hold bilateral meetings with the management of the High School of Justice, the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Georgian Bar Association, the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the European Business Association, the International Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
The European Union-Georgia Joint Project on Intellectual Property (EUGIPP) is a three-year project and its value is 1.2 million Euros.
