Mechanisms of Combatting Counterfeiting during Coronavirus Pandemic – Sakpatenti Hosted a Round Table

More than 50 members of the International Trademark Association (INTA) attended today the Virtual Round Table, organized by Sakpatenti and INTA, a dialogue on the intellectual property policy, which was devoted to discussion of the challenges and problems related with counterfeiting during the Coronavirus pandemic period and ways of their overcoming.
The meeting was opened by Mrs. Nino Chikovani, Deputy Chairperson of the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia Sakpatenti. Representatives of government and private sectors working in the intellectual property protection field in Georgia participated in the event. Mrs. Nino Chikovani stressed the fact that during the Coronavirus pandemic period Georgia met prepared the challenges related with counterfeiting.
The head of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance and the Georgian National Association of Patent Attorneys introduced to “Novartis”, “Ferring” and other major INTA member companies the effective mechanisms used in Georgia regarding the protection of intellectual property rights. In particular, foreign companies received information concerning the border measures related with intellectual property in Georgia and mechanisms of ensuring its protection on the market, as well as proper functioning of the intellectual property system in the country. Sharing given information with INTA members will facilitate increasing of interest of foreign companies in Georgia.
INTA meetings are common and the main objective is to share newsworthy information on trademarks among the professionals of this field. The present meeting was held by the cooperation of Sakpatenti and INTA.
