Sakpatenti Re-Opened the Service Center for Citizens – It will be Possible to Receive Paper-based Applications again

The structural units of the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti continue teleworking, except the structural units which provide services to citizens and carry out proceedings. Today, on June 8, 2020, the Service Centre resumed receiving citizens and applicants will be able to file applications directly at the office as well.
According to the Government recommendations, the procedure of thermal screening of the entering persons, including employees is organized at the offices. As in all other institutions, visitors are admitted into the premises only wearing a face mask. The Service Centers are already equipped with the separating glass constructions, whereas in the common areas antibacterial solutions for hand disinfection are arranged.
To protect health safety of Sakpatenti staff members, all of them were handed over primary means of defense: face masks, gloves, disinfecting solution. Disinfection of the offices is carried out according to the prescribed periodicity.
Sakpatenti asks applicants, with the exception of urgent cases, to refrain from visiting Sakpatenti offices and to use the electronic filing system of the Office (www.sakpatenti.gov.ge).
The currently operating system allows electronic filing, processing and online monitoring of applications for all IP subject-matters (trademarks, designs, inventions, utility models, new varieties and breeds, geographical indications and appellations of origin, copyright). A 20% discount on the fees applies again, in case of electronic filing of applications.
In the teleworking mode, other structural units of Sakpatenti uninterruptedly continue their functioning and all services are provided within the time limits provided for by the legislation.
The Chamber of Appeals operating at Sakpatenti also continues functioning in the teleworking mode without interruption, and sessions, if necessary, are held using the distance communication platforms.
