EUIPO Academy will Participate in the Development of the Intellectual Property Teaching in Georgia

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and its Academy will assist the Training Centre of Sakpatenti in creating an online platform, drafting training materials and introduction of an internship program – the issues were defined at the remote meeting of the representatives of the EUIPO Academy and Sakpatenti Training Centre.
Mrs. Nino Chikovani, Deputy Chairperson of the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia Sakpatenti and Ms. Ana Dalakishvili, new Head of Sakpatenti Training Centre, introduced to the EUIPO Academy the priority directions of the Centre, among which there are introduction of modern technologies and harmonization with the international standards, drafting educational and scientific materials and methodological textbooks, as well as identification of target groups and creation of an effective system of continuous education for them.
During the meeting the representatives of the EUIPO Academy expressed readiness to contribute to the development of the intellectual property system in Georgia. In accordance with the goals and objectives of Sakpatenti, the EUIPO Academy is ready to share with Sakpatenti its practice concerning its functioning, working with target groups and defining training directions and to participate in the planning, organization and implementation of relevant training programs and other educational projects.
Supporting Sakpatenti Training Centre is one of the components of the Project “European Union-Georgia Intellectual Property Project” (EUGIPP), implemented jointly by the EUIPO and main beneficiary is Sakpatenti. The Project aims to support the intellectual property system in Georgia, to improve the trademark and design systems and to harmonize the legislation of Georgia with the European Union legislation.
EUIPO, the Agency which is responsible for managing EU trademarks and designs and registering trademarks and designs on the territory of the European Union by means of a single application, shares experience and assists intellectual property offices of the EU member states and international partners in harmonizing practices. The activity of the Academy functioning at the EUIPO is directed at capacity building of relevant professionals and maximum availability of information in the intellectual property field.
