Special lessons conducted on the theme - Intellectual Property

On an occasion of April 26 - the World Intellectual Property Day - special lessons are delivered to up to 2000 elementary grade pupils of public schools throughout Georgia. The objective of the lessons is to raise awareness on the essence and importance of intellectual property rights.
For last two year USAID Georgia Primary Education Project (USAID/G-PriEd) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, drafted special lesson plan for the 4th-5th grades and the recommendation on delivering the above-mentioned lesson has been sent to public schools. Reading books on innovations“Umbrella”, “Washing-machine” and “Compass” (author: Irma Malatsidze), created by cooperation of G-PriEd and Sakpatenti, are used for special lessons.
The lessons delivered at Tbilisi public school No. 133 were attended by officials of National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti an USAID/G-PriEd representatives. Pupils were informed on what is innovation, when is patent granted, what National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti represents and what is celebrated on April 26.At the lessons pupils wrote compositions on innovations and presented their own “inventions” devised in class.
The pupils were handed over home reading materials on patents, inventions and intellectual property subject-matters in general, which were published within cooperation between Sakpatenti and G-PriEd, and which are also available electronically on Sakpatenti website.
The World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated on April 26 and it is main aim is to raise public awareness on intellectual property issues. The main objective of the above-mentioned special lessons is to build respect for intellectual property among pupils.
