“Increase of the Number of Field Experts Conditions Greatly the Country’s Effective Intellectual Property System Formation” - Mindia Davitadze

The “General Course on Intellectual Property” (DL 101GE) was customized and translated into the Georgian language through cooperation of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Sakpatenti. Currently, the Georgian course has up to 500 graduates. Sakpatenti Chairman hosted the students who received the highest scores during the Spring Session and handed over to them certificates of the WIPO Academy in solemn ceremony. Mr. Mindia Davitadze familiarized the students with the decision of the Office concerning financing for them the WIPO Academy advanced level training course (DL 302).

The WIPO Academy distance learning course, which is an opportunity to get acquainted with the basics of intellectual property law, was translated into the Georgian language, was harmonized with the legislation of Georgia and became available free of charge to any person interested in this field. After the successful completion of the course, on the basis of the certificates issued by the WIPO Academy, handed over to you today, it is possible to enroll for the advanced level courses of the WIPO Academy. By the joint decision of Sakpatenti and WIPO, it will be possible for you, course graduates with the highest scores, to pass the advanced level training course (DL 302) also free of charge. The course will give you an opportunity to acquire professional knowledge on registration forms of trademarks, geographical indications and designs as well as relevant international practices, thus, taking you to a new stage. For the country it is essential to have highly qualified specialists of the field. Therefore, I encourage you to continue your studies for raising qualification. In our turn, we will continue adapting in the Georgian language advanced courses of various branches”, - the Chairman of the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti noted during the meeting.
The course DL101GE, accredited by WIPO, was delivered for the fifth time under the tutorship of the trainers of the Training Centre of the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti. This is the first distance learning course on intellectual property, translated by Sakpatenti in cooperation with the WIPO Academy. The course is constructed according to the Primer on Intellectual Property of the WIPO Academy (DL-001), it consists of 12 modules and its duration is 6 weeks.
The WIPO Academy serves globally as the center for education and training of human resources in the intellectual property field. The distance learning courses of the Academy are available for representatives of various fields interested in IP issues.
