Within the WIPO 61st General Assembly a Meeting of Mr. Christian Archambeau and Mr. Mindia Davitadze Took Place

An online meeting of the top officials of Sakpatenti and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) was held within the annual meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) which took place in the hybrid format this year. Mr. Christian Archambeau, EUIPO Executive Director, and Mr. Mindia Davitadze, Sakpatenti Chairman, overviewed the ongoing projects under the Memorandum of Understanding, discussed latest developments in the offices and outlined future plans.
At the meeting the “European Union-Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP)” was discussed, which is funded by the European Union and its budget is 1.2 million Euros. In order to develop an effective intellectual property system in Georgia, the Project aims to enhance the capacity of the existing institutions, to approximate and harmonize legislation and practice.
Within EUGIPP, the EUIPO training course “Intellectual Property as a Valuable Business Asset” will be adapted into the Georgian language. The two offices will deliver the training jointly and the participants will also receive a joint certificate.
The course is aimed to introduce to businesses the essence and the value of intellectual property, mechanisms of protection of intangible resources of a company and methods of commercialization of rights, which will assist them in achieving competitive advantage on the market.
EUIPO is the Agency responsible for managing the European Union trademarks and designs and registering EU trademarks and designs by means of a single application. The organization also shares experience and assists intellectual property offices of the EU member states as well as international partners in their efforts to tharmonize the law practice to the EU Acquis.
