TSU Library Will Ensure Copyright Protection
November 02, 2020
Sakpatenti Training Centre has started training series tailored to needs. The first working meeting took place with the staff members of the National Scientific Library of Tbilisi State University. On October 29, 2020, the remote training was delivered for them on all significant issues related to copyright.
Protection of copyright and receiving information on this issue are not only in the interests of authors but also of the persons who, during implementation of their activities, use the works of other persons protected by copyright. It is essential that the Library and its staff members, who perform the function of an intermediary between the author and the reader and whose activities also include digitalization of works and making their copies, as well as creation of databases and reprographic reproduction of works, had information concerning the provisions of the law.
Training participants were given information on the obligations they have in the process of use of a copyrighted work. The above-mentioned will facilitate their activities as well as will ensure effective protection of copyright during the use of such work.
Technological progress, development of the Internet have led to massive infringement of copyright. Sakpatenti has identified the groups who, during implementation of their activities, use works of other persons protected by copyright and has planned to offer trainings tailored to needs.
Copyright is the subject-matter of intellectual property which arises as a result of creation of a literary, scientific and artistic work. Protection and use of copyright allows an author to control and define the ways and scope of use of his/her work by another person.
