Within the EU-Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP) first distance training was delivered for 12 teachers of 6 public schools of Tbilisi, Rustavi and Gori in order to develop relevant skills for teaching creativity and intellectual property concepts.
“Creativity and Intellectual Property in Georgian Schools” is one of the components of EUGIPP, which is aimed to introduce intellectual property related concepts and main directions into school lessons, using materials and activities suitable to the pupils’ age, as well as to familiarize teachers with the importance of the intellectual property system and to elaborate a plan for lesson on intellectual property.
According to the work plan of the Project, initially, the pilot version will be implemented - lessons in creativity and intellectual property will be delivered at the selected schools. The pilot version aims to integrate creativity and IP issues into the public education system.
To achieve the effectiveness of teaching, the selected schools will be provided with learning materials, based on the content of the teacher training package “Basics of Intellectual Property” of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The learning materials will be used during lessons of the native language and public education. As a result of the Project, teachers of public schools will introduce the IP concepts into their everyday activities and from the elementary school level they will teach pupils how to respect intellectual property of others and how to protect their rights.
The EUGIPP Project has been implemented since January, 2020 by the EUIPO and the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti.
