“Cooperation in the field of Intellectual Property will be continued and further strengthened”, David De Falco

To
maintain a high-level bilateral cooperation platform on economic and trade
issues between the USA and Georgia, Mr. David De Falco, Deputy Assistant
Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce, within his virtual visit to
Georgia, met with Sakpatenti Chairman Mr. Mindia Davitadze.
During the meeting the parties discussed about the projects implemented with the support of the United States Government aimed to develop the intellectual property field. Mr.Mindia Davitadze, Chairman of the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti stressed the successful cooperation with Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and its Global Intellectual Property Academy (GIPA), and also noted the cooperation with the USAID/Georgia.
Mr. Mindia Davitadze extended gratitude
to the United States Government for the support in the activities carried out
for raising public awareness in the intellectual property field and capacity
building of Georgian examiners, including the electronic office management
system, introduced within the E-Governance project, the Quality Management (QM)
Handbook, developed within the Human and Institutional Capacity Development
(HICD) project, and publishing of reading books on intellectual property
subject-matters, created with the assistance of the Georgian Primary Education
Project (G-PriEd). The necessity of implementation of the above-mentioned
activities and the obtained results became especially appreciable during
coronavirus (COVID-19)
pandemic.
At the meeting, Mr. David de
Falco assured Sakpatenti Chairman that cooperation
in the field of intellectual property will be continued and further
strengthened.
