Ms. Sabine Machl – „In United Nations we firmly believe that intellectual property is a foundation for economic, social and cultural development”

In elaborating the Institutional Strategy Document of the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti for 2021-2024, the Center is assisted by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). To discuss the ongoing project and future cooperation, Mr. Mindia Davitadze, Sakpatenti Chairman met with Ms. Sabine Machl, UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia.
The Center has been working for several months already on the Strategy Document which reflects the four-year action plan for strategic development of Sakpatenti and it is planned to present the final version of the document to the public in the near future. Taking into account the challenges in this field, the Strategy Document defines the vision, long-term and short-term goals and objectives of the Center. As a result of this activity, the strengthening of the Intellectual Property Office as well as improvement of the IP environment in the country are expected.
Sakpatenti Chairman Mr. Mindia Davitadze introduced to the UN Resident Coordinator the challenges faced by the Center, plans and reforms to be carried out, also evaluated the significance of the cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and noted that this activity will facilitate the improvement of the capacity of the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti.
During the meeting held at Sakpatenti head office, Ms. Sabine Machl noted that „In United Nations we firmly believe that intellectual property is a foundation for economic, social and cultural development, which in turn are key to the success of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals“
The UNDP is one of the largest agencies of the United Nations Organization the representative office of which was opened in Georgia in 1993.The main objective of the program is to promote the democratic development of Georgia in close cooperation with national and international partners. The UNDP activities covers four major areas: democratic governance, economic development, environment protection and energy, crisis prevention and recovery. Achieving sustainable development is part of every program and is the goal of each program of the agency.
