April 20, 2021
To introduce activities aimed at professional development and deepening the knowledge of students in the field of Intellectual property, Sakpatenti and Tbilisi State University (TSU) renewed the Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed by Mr. Mindia Davitadze, Sakpatenti Chairman, and Mr. Giorgi Sharvashidze, TSU Rector. The Memorandum provides possibility to grant relevant ECTS credits after passing the General Course on Intellectual Property (DL101GE), which will facilitate raising awareness in this field, promotion of the course and increasing the number of professionals of this field in the future.
At this moment, on the Georgian market there is no analogue of DL101GE distance learning course, which is intended for anyone interested in this field – it is simple, convenient, free and certified by the United Nations specialized agency. The course is led by trainers (tutors) of LEPL National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti, who are accredited by WIPO. In case of successful completion of the course, the participants will be handed over the electronic certificates of WIPO Academy on the basis of which they will have an opportunity to take part in other courses on intellectual property law at WIPO Academy.
In order to develop the intellectual property field, it is a priority to arouse interest on IP among students, to raise awareness on intellectual property law and promote this field especially among future specialists in law. In addition to DL101GE Sakpatenti and TSU are also jointly planning to implement other certification courses and educational training projects as well as to organize discussions, thematic seminars, conferences and workshops within the framework of the Memorandum.
