Meeting between the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to Georgia and the Chairman of Sakpatenti Took Place at Sakpatenti

The Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to Georgia, H.E. Enrico Valvo, was hosted at the Intellectual Property Center. During the meeting the Chairman of the Center, Mr. Mindia Davitadze, introduced the activities of Sakpatenti and ongoing projects to the diplomat and expressed willingness to cooperate with the Italian Patent and Trademark Office.
At the meeting the cooperation between Sakpatenti and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Italy was highlighted, which is implemented within the EU funded Twinning Project on “Establishing Efficient Protection and Control System of Geographical Indications (GIs) in Georgia” (GE/16 ENI EC 0318). Sakpatenti Chairman noted that sharing experience of Italy, as a member state of the European Union, is of great importance for the development of this field in the country and approximation with European standards.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to Georgia expressed readiness for future cooperation with Sakpatenti. He noted that for the progress of the country it is important to develop the intellectual property field and he will assist Sakpatenti in initiating bilateral cooperation with the Italian Patent and Trademark Office, relevant documentation will be prepared in order to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.
Sharing experience and implementation of joint projects with the agencies of the Republic of Italy working on the IP issues will facilitate institutional development and capacity building of the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti.
