Sakpatenti and the High School of Justice will Implement Joint Projects

Sakpatenti Chairman Mr. Mindia Davitadze and Director of the High School of Justice Mr. Vano Bolkvadze discussed the issue of strengthening the judicial system in the field of intellectual property at the introductory meeting held at the House of Justice.
“In order to strengthen the intellectual property system in the country it is important to bolster capacities of the professionals in the field, including judiciary, as the judicial system is a major cornerstone which facilitates successful integration of the given area into the global system”, - Sakpatenti Chairman Mr. Mindia Davitadze noted at the meeting.
Within the cooperation, to ensure professional development of acting judges, systemic introduction of educational activities is important, in which the development of IP-related educational programs and training courses will be envisaged.
At the meeting Mr. Vano Bolkvadze noted that he will support the initiative of Sakpatenti and will assist the office in implementation of significant educational projects. Taking these factors into account, Sakpatenti will actively engage in the process of capacity building of judges and will implement trainings within the programs of the Training Centre that will be tailored to the needs.
Attention was also focused on the program of the WIPO Academy’s “Judicial Training on Intellectual Property”. Sakpatenti, with the participation of the High School of Justice, plans to introduce the above-mentioned course in the Georgian language within the framework of close cooperation with WIPO.
It is noteworthy that transition of cooperation between Sakpatenti and the High School of Justice to a new stage, implementation of joint projects and involvement of judges in these projects will considerably raise awareness of the judges, deepen their knowledge in the intellectual property field and facilitate effective enforcement of IP rights in the country.
