Workshop on Alternative Dispute Resolution

Workshop on Alternative Dispute Resolution was organized by Sakpatenti and the EUGIPP Project team within the EU-Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP).

Mr. João Negrão, President of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) Boards of Appeal, and Mr. Gordon Humphreys and Mr. Sven Stürmann, Chairmen of the 1st and the 2nd Boards of Appeal of EUIPO, participated in the seminar. 

Event aimed to raise awareness on the alternative dispute resolution and approximation with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) standards. On the basis of the experience of the EUIPO Boards of Appeal, Sakpatenti staff members, patent attorneys, representatives of the Mediators’ Association and Arbitration Centres shared experience and the best practices related to the above-mentioned issue and mediation results. They also received information on various principles and techniques of mediation and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, which will assist right holders in fast and effective resolution of disputes.

EU-Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP) is aimed at strengthening the intellectual property system in Georgia. EUGIPP is a three-year project and will be completed at the end of 2022.  On behalf of the European Union, the project is implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), and its main beneficiary is the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia - Sakpatenti.
