Nino Chikovani – Introduction of Mediation is one of the Priorities of Sakpatenti

Organized by the Mediators Association and Business Ombudsman of Georgia, international forum “Mediation for Business” is being conducted at the moment.  The Program “Promoting the Rule of Law of Georgia” (USAID/PROLoG) of the United States Agency of International Development (USAID) is the main supporter of the event. The forum conducted remotely was opened by Ms. Salome Zurabisvhili, President of Georgia.

Mrs. Nino Chikovani, deputy chairperson of Sakpatenti delivered the speech on the forum and highlighted that the active processes are being implemented in Sakpatenti regarding introduction of the alternative dispute resolution mechanism. 

‘’Introduction of flexible mechanism of mediation for right holders is one of the priorities of the Center, as it will assist Intellectual Property right holders in resolving disputes quickly and effectively, as well as it will give them opportunity to maintain confidentiality. In addition, settlement of disputes is very important, as after that, business relationship between the parties continues, is deepened and even strengthened’’ – mentioned Mrs. Nino Chikovani.

National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia -“Sakpatenti” actively cooperates with the Mediators Association of Georgia with regard to the introduction of the system of mediation. In addition, introduction of the system of mediation is one of the components of the EU-Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP). Together with the EU, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) shares its experience with Georgia in the mentioned field.

International Forum “Mediation for Business” is conducted annually. The main purpose of the Forum is to focus on the role and significance of mediation in business sector.
