WIPO Digital Access Service (DAS) is introduced in Sakpatenti
September 15, 2021
National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia-Sakpatenti joined the WIPO administrated electronic system DAS (Digital Access Service) that allows the participating intellectual property offices to exchange priority documents under the Paris Convention securely and in an electronic environment.
Before the introduction, the documents related to patents, utility models, trademarks and designs were submitted only in material form. From now on, the system will simplify the process for the applicants to request the so-called “conventional priorities” on these intellectual property objects in the Member States.
Introduction of DAS system was preceded by drafting the amendments to the following normative by-laws:
- Instruction on Design Registration
- Instruction on Procedures Related to Drafting and Filing Applications for Inventions and Utility Models and Granting a Patent
- Instruction on Procedures related to Drafting and Filing a Trademark Application and Registeration.
The amendments adopted in the by-laws defined the rules and conditions for submitting applications regarding intellectual property objects in electronic form. In addition, several procedural issues have been refined taking into account the EU and other international legislative and practical experience.
The mentioned amendments have been published on the Legislative Herald of Georgia today.
