Representatives of State Agencies of the Republic of Azerbaijan Became Familiarized with the Experience of Georgia about Development of the Geographical Indications System

Sakpatenti hosted representatives of the Ministries of Economy and Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan during their visit to Georgia. The guests familiarized themselves with the experience of Georgia on Geographical Indications and Appellations of Origin.

Mr. David Gabunia, Director of non-profit legal entity “Origin - Georgia”, functioning at Sakpatenti, comprehensively informed representatives of the Ministries of the Republic of Azerbaijan about the process of registration of Geographical Indications in Georgia and about the criteria, which are necessary to meet for a product of special qualities. Mr. Gabunia also presented and highlighted essential standards stipulated by the Law of Georgia on Appellations of Origin of Goods and Geographical Indications. 

The study tour was organized by Triesdorf Agribusiness Cooperation (TABCo), within the project “Marketing and Promotion of Traditional Food Products in Azerbaijan”. Within the tour, representatives of the Ministries of Economy and Agriculture of Azerbaijan visited food enterprises in different regions of Georgia and became acquainted on-site with the production process of local traditional products and the food safety and quality standards of the enterprises.
