Enforcement Stakeholders Meeting Held with the Participation of Relevant Enforcement Officers

Within the EU-Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP), with the co-organization of Sakpatenti, the meeting was held between the representatives from relevant enforcement authorities in Georgia and the experts involved in the Project, working to elaborate further the intellectual property rights enforcement system in Georgia.
Representatives of various administrative bodies and experts discussed the problematic issues in the enforcement field in Georgia and the EU best practices. At the meeting the participants heard the comparative analysis report of compliance of Georgian enforcement legislation with EU acquis, prepared by the experts and discussed the Guidelines for Enforcement Officers on Administrative, Border and Criminal Enforcement of IPRs, developed within the Project.
The enforcement component ongoing within the EUGIPP project will facilitate strengthening the intellectual property rights enforcement system in Georgia, along with this, improvement of the quality of rights enforcement by all stakeholders involved in the Project, ensuring the systematized, coordinated and effective process of enforcement.
The event took place at Sakpatenti office in the hybrid mode, with the participation of representatives of the Customs Department and the Tax Monitoring Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance, the Department of the Procedural Guidance of Investigation in the Ministry of Finance of the Office of the Prosecutor General and Sakpatenti.
The EU-Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP), funded by the European Union, was launched on January 1, 2020 and is implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The main beneficiary of the Project is the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia - Sakpatenti. EUGIPP is a three-year project, with the budget of 1.2 million Euros and it is aimed to support the intellectual property system in Georgia.
