Sakpatenti Summarized the Year 2021

Ms. Manana Pruidze, Acting Chairperson of the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti, together with Deputy Chairpersons Ms. Nino Chikovani and Mr. Beka Dochviri, summarized the year 2021 and informed patent attorneys about the future plans. As the Acting Chairperson noted at the meeting, 2021 was a year full of challenges, however, a number of international projects were implemented successfully. In addition, it was stressed that, despite the situation cased by the pandemic, the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti continues its full functioning and delivering services to users.
Within the event Ms. Nino Chikovani expressed gratitude to the patent attorneys for their involvement in the EU Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP) and reported about the activities implemented within the Project. The conversation touched upon the measures taken to improve the trademark and design system, as well as the projects planned for small and medium-sized enterprises. At the meeting it was noted that in 2021 the EU-funded Twinning Project for institutional cooperation between public administrations - “Establishing Efficient Protection and Control System of Geographical Indications (GIs) in Georgia” was completed successfully.
During the meeting the issues related to the amendments to be entered in the Patent Law of Georgia were discussed once again, adoption of which is scheduled for 2022.
In addition, the plans for 2022 and information on the activities to be implemented were introduced to the patent attorneys.
