Sakpatenti Awarded the Third Place Winning Team of the Millennium Innovation Competition

Design of a Low Voltage Operating Air Ionizer Using Carbon Nanofibers, Smart Costume and Robot Teacher are the winning projects of the Millennium Innovation Award 2021.
Sakpatenti participated in the Millennium Innovation Award ceremony, which was opened ceremony, which was opened by Mr. Shalva Papuashvili, the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Mr. Mikheil Chkhenkeli, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, and H.E. Kelly Degnan, U.S. Ambassador to Georgia.
Ms. Nino Chikovani, Deputy Chairperson of Sakpatenti, awarded the prize to a third-place winning team “Goal Diggers” that created the innovative Robot Teacher and handed over personal computers to the team members. In addition, she introduced to the competition participants the initiative of Sakpatenti.
“We would like to deepen cooperation and in future we intend to grant a special prize for competition participants whose project will be patentable. We will carry out preliminary search to determine patentability. We promise them full support in the process of obtaining a patent”, as Ms. Nino Chikovani informed.
The innovative virtual and real robot is a type of an “assistant” to a teacher, which can help to direct the learning process in a simple and funny way: it can help the pupils to study the alphabet, colours, geometrical figures and symbols and also check the material learned by the pupil and give appropriate feedback.
The Millennium Innovation Award, which is organized by the Millennium Foundation and financial support of the U.S. Embassy, is being held successfully for the seventh year in a row. The activity is aimed to stimulate creation of innovations and new technologies among pupils of upper grades. It also promotes an interest in the sphere of natural science and technologies and assists young people in implementation of innovative ideas and projects as well as establishing relations with potential partners.
The National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti has been cooperating successfully with the Millennium Foundation over the years. Sakpatenti is an active supporter of the competition and participates in the selection of the winning teams. The Office also offers training for all teams participating in the competition in the field of intellectual property to provide the youth with extensive information on the IP subject-matters, including obtaining a patent and patent application processing procedures at Sakpatenti.
