Discussion on the Comparative Analysis between the EU and Georgian Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Legislations
March 04, 2022
Within the EU Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP), a consultation meeting took place between Georgian enforcement authorities and an expert working on development of the system of intellectual property rights enforcement in Georgia.
The participants of the meeting, representatives of the Revenue Service of Georgia and Sakpatenti, together with the Georgian and foreign experts involved in the Project discussed the relevant deliverables in order to further approximate the Georgian IP enforcement legislation to the EU and examples of strengthening and enhancing the enforcement practices presented by the Revenue Service.
“I believe this meeting was fruitful, as we had an opportunity to discuss in detail all comments related to further approximation of the Georgian intellectual property enforcement legislation to the EU. We also considered mechanisms of strengthening the practices of local enforcement officers”, noted Ms. Nino Chikovani.
The international cooperation project EUGIPP, funded by the European Union, was launched on January 1, 2020 and is implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The main beneficiary of the Project is the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia - Sakpatenti. The project will continue for three years, its budget is 1.2 million EUR and it is aimed to support the intellectual property system in Georgia.
