“GoGeoGo”, Winning Team of the Millennium Innovations Award, was Hosted at Sakpatenti

The team of pupils from Akhaltsikhe Public School №1, “GoGeoGo”, is the team which won the third place at the Millennium Innovations Award competition in 2020 for developing a mobile application intended to help in obtaining information easily on transport schedules in Georgia. To celebrate the victory, Sakpatenti management held a meeting with the team members and representatives of the Millennium Foundation. The meeting was aimed to provide to the team members extensive information on inventions, obtaining a patent and patent application processing procedures at Sakpatenti, and to hand over the prizes awarded to them by Sakpatenti. On behalf of the Office, Ms. Nino Chikovani, Deputy Chairperson of Sakpatenti, handed over personal computers to the members of “GoGeoGo”.
“Promotion of innovative activity is one of the priority directions of Sakpatenti, as the office defining policy in the intellectual property field. Therefore, Sakpatenti is always actively engaged in the Millennium Innovations Award, it participates in evaluation of the competition projects and selection of the winning teams, and for already the second year is a member of the jury. In addition, the Office offers training in intellectual property direction for all teams participating in the competition, which is an additional incentive for participants to create new and interesting projects”, - Ms. Nino Chikovani, Deputy Chairperson of Sakpatenti, noted at the meeting.
“The Millennium Foundation has been cooperating successfully with the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia for many years. The objective of our cooperation within the Millennium Innovations Award is to promote interest in young generation to create innovative projects and, what is the most important, to teach pupils the international standards of intellectual property rights during implementation of the projects. Participants of the competition receive directly from Sakpatenti staff detailed information on intellectual property, patents, their use, patent search and procedure of obtaining a patent”, - noted Ms. Magda Magradze, Chief Executive Officer of Millennium Challenge Account-Georgia.
The Millennium Innovations Award competition is organized since 2014 with the financial support of the U.S. Embassy. It is aimed to stimulate creation of innovations and new technologies among pupils of upper grades, promote interest in the sphere of natural science and technologies and establish relations with potential partners.
