Outstanding Graduates of DL101GE will Take WIPO Advanced Course Free of Charge

Ms. Manana Pruidze, Acting Chairperson of Sakpatenti, congratulated ten outstanding students on successful completion of the autumn session 2021 of the General Course on Intellectual Property (DL101GE) and in an award ceremony handed to them the certificates and the main award – opportunity to pass the specialized, advanced course of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy free of charge.
“On behalf of WIPO and Sakpatenti, I would like to reward you with the certificate of the General Course on Intellectual Property, which is a requirement for passing the next advanced courses. According to our decision and with WIPO support, you, as the outstanding graduates are given an opportunity to choose the desirable field of IP and take the course free of charge for acquiring in-depth knowledge in the field of trademarks, geographical indications, designs or copyright,” – Ms. Manana Pruidze noted in her address.
Ms. Sabine Machl, UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia, and Ms. Caroline Storan, WIPO Distance Learning Officer remotely congratulated the students on graduation from the DL101GE course.
The General Course on Intellectual Property aims to attract and inform students, specialists of various professions interested in the field of intellectual property. Increasing the number of intellectual property specialists is important for further development of the IP field. It is regarded as a priority therefore Sakpatenti actively cooperates with WIPO, which is the specialized agency of the United Nations defining the intellectual property policy globally.
To increase the number of potential participants, Sakpatenti periodically disseminates information on the next session and updates to the course on various platforms, which facilitates promotion of the activity of Sakpatenti Training Centre and it’s positioning as a progressive, innovative centre. In the recent years, the number of people registering for the course has been increased because of the promotional activities by Sakpatenti and the Training Centre functioning at its base.
The General Course on Intellectual Property is a distance learning course of WIPO Academy, which has been available in Georgian language free of charge since 2018. The course is led by tutors of LEPL National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia – Sakpatenti, certified by WIPO. From introducing the course to the present day, within 8 sessions, 2689 participants were registered and 1181 persons completed the course successfully. Registration for the spring session of the course starts on March 28, 2022.
