The dangers posed by counterfeit goods for health and safety will be the main topic of discussion during the 6th International Conference “Georgia Against Counterfeiting”, to be held in July, in Batumi in the face to face mode. The conference will be organized by Sakpatenti with the support of the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce. A remote meeting was held between Sakpatenti and CLDP representatives on the organizational issues related to the conference where topics of discussion and anticipated speakers were finalized. Representatives of US toy producing companies will deliver a presentation on methods and tools of combating counterfeiting in the toy industry. Likewise, ways of combating counterfeiting of pharmaceutical goods will be discussed with the participation of representatives of relevant industry. Foreign experts and sectoral specialists will share with the participants knowledge and experience on intellectual property rights enforcement issues.
At the meeting Ms. Nino Chikovani, Acting Chairperson of Sakpatenti, voiced an initiative this year to invite representatives of the Central European countries and the Baltic states to the conference and to involve them in the panel discussion. Mr. Skip Mark, Attorney Advisor-International at CLDP, expressed full support to Sakpatenti initiatives.
