25 Schools are Joining the Project “Creativity and Intellectual Property in Georgian Schools”

“Creativity and IP in Georgian
Schools” is a component
of the EU - Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP). It will
be repeated and implemented extensively this year. In addition to existing 4 schools engaged in the project, 21 schools from
the regions of Georgia will join the project in 2022-2023. Within the training
activity, aimed to support integration of creativity and intellectual property
issues into the basic education system, Sakpatenti tutors will train 100
teachers. The IP education syllabus
includes practical teaching methodology. The knowledge received at the trainings, will
allow teachers to deliver IP lesson at schools. Its main objective is to stimulate
creativity and innovation in pupils. 1000 pupils will be involved in the
above-mentioned project.
The
opening event of the 2022-2023 session of “Creativity and
IP in Georgian Schools” took place today in the conference hall of “Republic
Event Hall”. 25 selected schools directors joine and attended round-table. They
were addressed by Ms. Nino Chikovani, Acting Chairperson of National Intellectual
Property Center of Georgia - Sakpatenti, Mr. Martin Marianov, EUGIPP Leader,
and Ms. Ketevan Khutsishvili, Programme Manager of the Delegation of the
European Union to Georgia, as well as Mr. Kakhaber Eradze, representative of
the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Deputy Director of the
National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement. Project Expert, Mr. Paata
Papava, delivered a presentation of the component to the event participants,
introduced stages of project implementation, moreover presented the training materials.
EUGIPP
is the EU funded international cooperation project, which is ongoing from
January 1, 2020, and is implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property
Office (EUIPO). The main beneficiary of the project is the National
Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti”. EUGIPP is a three-year
project, with the budget of 1.2 million EUR. The project is based on best
practices of European countries for deepening knowledge in the field of
creativity and intellectual property.
