Sakpatenti Delegation is Participating in the “Intellectual Property Case Law Conference 2022”

The 4th edition of the Intellectual Property Case Law Conference was opened on July 7, 2022, in Alicante, Spain. Objective of the event is to consider intellectual property judicial practice, global challenges and development perspectives in the legislation. The event, organized by the Boards of Appeal and the Academy of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), is attended by the delegation of Georgia, headed by Mr. Beka Dotchviri, Deputy Chairperson of Sakpatenti.
The conference coincidences with the 25th anniversary of the EUIPO Boards of Appeal, which has caused its large scale, involvement of numerous participants and covering a broad spectrum of topics to be considered. Leading intellectual property experts from various countries, representatives of IP offices, judges, lawmakers, academics and lawyers are invited in the Kingdom of Spain. During two days, the participants gathered in Alicante will discuss the following key topics: General Court Proceedings; Sustainability and the Green Tech Intellectual Property; Intersecting Intellectual Property Rights in Culture, Fashion and
Entertainment; Nurturing the Value of Healthcare and Wellness; Challenges in the Digital Age; Boosting the Attractiveness of Intellectual Property Rights in Food and Beverages.
With the financial support of the EU Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP), representatives of Sakpatenti, together with the Georgia judges of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals of Georgia are participating in the conference. In addition, a virtual access to the event, held in the hybrid mode, was provided to 22 staff members of Sakpatenti. This support was implemented within the Memorandum of Understanding between Sakpatenti and EUIPO, which envisages cooperation between the offices in the direction of exchange of information and sharing experience in intellectual property field, facilitation of participation in the educational and awareness raising activities for target groups, including Sakpatenti staff members.
The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) administers EU trademarks and designs and registers EU trademarks and designs by means of a single application. Intellectual Property Dispute Resolution Body - Boards of Appeal and the Intellectual Property Academy are functioning on its basis. EUIPO shares experience and assists IP offices of the EU member states and international partners in harmonizing practices.
