Sakpatenti is Hosting the Trans-Caspian IP Forum

On July 28, 2022, within the IPR week program, the Trans-Caspian IP Forum was held, attended by representatives of the Intellectual Property Offices and Customs Departments of Georgia, Armenia, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan. The meeting is organized with the support of the U.S. Department of Commerce Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP).
The IP Forum was opened by Ms. Manana Pruidze, Acting Chairperson of Sakpatenti. Mr. Nnamdi Ezera, Senior Counsel, CLDP, also delivered a welcoming address.
The attendees of the meeting considered the global and regional challenges and achievements in the direction of intellectual property protection, and overviewed border measures of combating against counterfeiting. In addition, the potential of establishment of the Coordination Council was defined and the future cooperation plan was outlined.
The IP Forum is the third event in the IPR week program. Sakpatenti, with the CLDP support, already hosted in Batumi the International Conference “Georgia Against Counterfeiting and Piracy” and the Expert Level Working Group on IPR for representatives of the IP Offices and Customs Departments of the Caucasus and Eastern Europe. On July 30-31, the workshop on “Adjudication of Civil Intellectual Property Infringement Cases” will take place, which aim is to share U.S. experience in the direction of intellectual property protection with Georgian judges.
