34 Representatives from 17 Countries will Participate in the Professional Development Program (PDP) on Geographical Indications in Current Year

Within the program, training will be delivered in the hybrid mode. Local and foreign participants, will attend the training course in person during the first week and remotely during the second week, will receive comprehensive information on different systems of geographical indications, learn about mechanisms of protection of geographical indications and the grounds of refusal of registration of GIs. Within the event, the course participants will visit the National Wine Agency in Telavi where based on practical examples they will get acquainted with the control system of geographical indications and examples of successful GIs, a tour will also be organized to Tsinandali where a masterclass on the GIs quality control mechanisms will be held.
It is noteworthy that the high standard program, introduced in cooperation with WIPO, will facilitate development of countries GI system, the knowledge-based experience in its turn will increase local production, develop the export potential and competitiveness of national goods, which is a guarantee of the economic stability of a country. The program is led by WIPO accredited Sakpatenti Training Centre trainers and invited local and foreign experts. At the end of the Professional Development Program, the participants will receive course completion certificates.
