Sakpatenti Chairman Awarded the Finalist Team “WIBBA” of the Millennium Innovation Award 2022
December 01, 2022
To promote innovations and new technologies among pupils of
upper grades, the Millennium Innovation Award was held for the eighth time this
year. The competition is organized annually by the Millennium Foundation, with
the financial support of the US Embassy in Georgia and the Ministry of
Education and Science of Georgia. Sakpatenti is a loyal and active supporter of
the competition, it awards finalist teams and for already the second year
participates in the evaluation and selection of the winning teams.
The winner of the competition became the team “LIGGA”, which
presented the project “Radiation research, monitoring and safety system”, the team “Firelink” occupied the second place
for the project “A network of low-budget stations based on microtechnology and
sensors for early monitoring of forest fires”, and the team “Mad Scientists”
won the third place for the project “Universal, friendly house”.
From the 12 finalists, Sakpatenti revealed its favourite team
“WIBBA (Without Bad Bacteria)”, which created the project of an
air sterilizer using the Peltier cell. Sakpatenti Chairman awarded valuable
prizes to the team members - Mikheil Dadiani and Nutsa Totosashvili, Vladimir
Komarov Tbilisi Public School of Physics and Mathematics №199, Nikoloz Dvali,
International Georgian School (IGS), Erekle Jamrulidze, Contemporary Education
Academy (CEA), and Ana Mkervalishvili, Newton Free School. According to the
information presented in the description, the project is based on the research,
as a result of which it was ascertained that in open and closed areas both
relative and absolute humidity are different. Proceeding from this, air, in
which mist is not visible (i.e. water droplets do not scatter light), still
consists of submicroscopic droplets of water. The aim of the project is to destroy
bacteria by evaporating such droplets and heating the resulting air mixture.
It is noteworthy that the finalist teams of the Millennium
Innovation Award will participate in the awareness raising campaign which is
aimed to promote interest of pupils of public and private schools of Georgia in
science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The Millennium Innovation Award is implemented since 2014 and over 2,000 students have participated in the competition so far. Pupils of upper grades of public and private schools of Georgia are invited to participate in the competition. They submit projects in STEM disciplines in the following directions: Space and Aviation; Cyber-technologies and Safety; Environment, Energy and Climate Change; Healthcare and Nutrition; Applied Technologies and Applications; Robotics.
