Sakpatenti Staff Development Program is Delivered by EUIPO Experts

On March 15, to raise the staff qualification, the professional development program started at Sakpatenti. The activity, organized by the Sakpatenti Training Center, covers three training series, which will be delivered by leading experts from the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The program is implemented within the EU Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP), which is aimed to support the intellectual property system in Georgia, namely, to elaborate trademark and design examination and to harmonize it with the EU legislation and practice.
The training sessions cover sharing with the experts of various branches the best practice of the European Union in the direction of trademarks and design. The first and the second training series will be devoted to the consideration of EUIPO practice on trademarks, and the third series – to the EUIPO practice on designs. The professional development program will be attended by 30 staff members of the National intellectual Property Center – from the Department of Trademarks, Geographical Indications and Design, as well as the Legal, the Monitoring and the Service Departments. The EUIPO experts, relying on the EU practical examples, will share experience with the Georgian counterparts, who, on the basis of the knowledge gained during training, will ensure aligning the quality of examination carried out at Sakpatenti with the international standards and requirements.
The EUIPO main functions include sharing experience and supporting the IP offices of the EU Member States and international partners in harmonizing EU practices. The above-mentioned is implemented within the EUGIPP project with the involvement of EUIPO experts and is aimed to raise the staff qualification.
