ePCT Training at Sakpatenti
June 29, 2017
On June 28-29, 2017, two-day training on the use of ePCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) platform is held at National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti. The training is delivered by a representative of the World intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). On the first day of the event, examiners of the Service of Examination as to Form of the Sakpatenti Department of Inventions and New Varieties and Breeds received extensive information on the ePCT platform, and today the WIPO representative will introduce the electronic system to interested persons, patent attorneys and applicants.
Citizens and residents of Georgia are able to file international patent applications with Sakpatenti as a Receiving Office (RO) electronically using ePCT platform since June 1, 2017. In case of electronic filing of international applications using the ePCT system certain reductions apply on the International Filing Fee (as compared to filing on paper).
ePCT is an electronic filing system of the WIPO, which involves all stages of the PCT procedure: Receiving Offices (RO), WIPO International Bureau (IB), International Searching Authorities (ISA) and International Preliminary Examination Authorities (IPEA). The ePCT system allows filing and processing of PCT applications, exchange of documents between offices and communication with the applicant in the electronic format.
