May 06, 2023
The
project, launching of which is planned from
2024,
together with Georgia, will be implemented in Ukraine and Moldova, and is aimed
to support development of national intellectual property systems, namely, to
create effective mechanisms of registration, protection, management and
enforcement of intellectual property rights and to facilitate introducing them into
practice.
Intellectual
property is a fundamental instrument in creating a favourable
environment for innovation, creativeness and free competition. Thus,
by strengthening intellectual property offices and increasing efficiency of
protection systems, the project will contribute to the
economic and cultural development of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, which will
be reflected in strengthening of potential of small and medium-sized
enterprises (SMEs) of these countries and raising the level of investment
attractiveness. In addition, a progressive alignment to the EU rules and
standards will be achieved. The project will be implemented in line with the
international and European best practices, according to the commitments of the
respective Association Agreements.
The visit
of the representatives of the European
Union Intellectual Property Office to Georgia lasted 3 days, within which the
parties summarized the achieved results, held a meeting with the management of the
High School of Justice and judges and presented them with 50 copies of the IP
case-law compilation of European court decisions, published in the Georgian
language. Along with this, within the visit a meeting took place with the
authorities of the Revenue Service and the Customs Department to discuss future
cooperation.
