Mr. Soso Giorgadze Met with Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)

Within the Worldwide Symposium on Geographical Indications, a meeting took place between Mr. Soso Giorgadze and Ms. Wang Binying, the parties discussed the long-term initiatives and prospects for deepening cooperation.

During the conversation, Ms. Wang Binying expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Symposium and thanked Mr. Soso Giorgadze for the contribution of Sakpatenti in the organization of this important event.

The Chairman of Sakpatenti on his turn expressed gratitude for the fruitful cooperation with WIPO in the process of joint organization of the Symposium and emphasized the significant support and cooperation of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in the establishment and development of the intellectual property system in Georgia.

It is noteworthy that in close cooperation of Sakpatenti with WIPO, important projects are being developed that are aimed to support the educational and innovation activities in the field. At the bilateral meeting, attention was focused on the action plans for the implementation of the above-mentioned joint projects and the possibilities of introducing innovations in the direction of intellectual property protection in Georgia, which will contribute to the strengthening of the field and, accordingly, the rapid development of the IP system.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations, which unites 193 member states.  Georgia became a member of WIPO in 1991.
