To support farmers, associations and producers, the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti”, together with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), has launched a new project, which involves targeted training and seminars – at the initial stage Tushetian Guda has been selected from protected appellations of origin.
Within the project, two-day training was held in Alvani, Kakheti region, for producers of Tushetian Guda cheese. The training was led by international expert Mr. Pascal Bernardoni. The objective of the project was to strengthen the capacity of Tushetian Guda producers.
During the event, production methods of Tushetian Guda, its specification and area of production were discussed in detail. The methods of establishing proper communication with customers and proper advertising of the goods were considered. The expert also focused attention on the necessity of deepening knowledge in the direction of increasing and improving competitiveness on the market.
Sakpatenti maximally facilitates the use of intellectual property subject-matters in the private sector. Effective industrial use of inventions, trademarks, utility models or appellations of origin products is the best way for the development of the intellectual property field, which, in its turn, will definitely have a positive effect on the economy of the country.
The opening ceremony of the joint project of Sakpatenti and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) – the “Project on Collective Management, Branding and Commercialization of Selected Registered GI in Georgia” – took place a few days ago at Sakpatenti Head Office. The event was opened by Mr. Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of Sakpatenti. Mr. Hasan Kleib, Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), addressed the participants remotely.
The project, the preparatory works of which started in the spring of the current year, will continue until March 2024.
