One of the Participants of Competition “Leonardo da Vinci” Became the Favourite Selection of Sakpatenti

The award ceremony of the annual Competition of Young Inventors and Researchers “Leonardo da Vinci” was held at the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. From the foundation of the competition, the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti” is its loyal supporter and a constant member of the competition commission.
The competition is held since 2011 and is organized by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. The competition is aimed to stir interest in innovations and technological progress among teenagers, to stimulate learning process at general educational institutions, as well as to develop creative thinking, research and practical skills among pupils.
29 project applications were submitted for participation in Competition “Leonardo da Vinci” 2023. 16 projects moved to the second stage and 12 projects won the right to participate in the final stage. In the conditions of open and equal competition teenagers gifted with an inventor’s talent were revealed and encouraged. Participants of the competition were pupils of the 7th-12th grades of public and private schools.
Mr. Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia, awarded one the participants of the competition, Nikoloz Chanturia, who satisfied best of all the criteria defined by Sakpatenti – novelty, inventive step and industrial applicability. The contestant selected by Sakpatenti invented epistop, same as the remedy for stopping nose bleeding. The Chairman of Sakpatenti awarded him with a valuable prize.
The Grand Prix of “Leonardo da Vinci” 2023 was won by the project “Low-Budget Reflecting Telescope with Adjustable Focal Length”. The team members are: Irakli Veshapeli, Saba Kutibashvili and Anastasia Kikalia. The first prize was awarded to Nika Quparadze, Konstantine Gotiashvili and Mariam Peranidze with the project “BCD-Brain Controlled Drone”, the winners of the second prize were Anastasia Dekanoidze, Mariam Lominashvili and Nikoloz Burduli with the project “Obtaining from Local Raw Materials and Use of Non-Newtonian Clay”, the third prize was awarded to the project “Management and Control System of Bee Venom Obtaining Process”, the team members are: Nino Gureshidze, Zurab Rezesidze and Sandro Chikovani.
It is noteworthy that since 2011 to present 1257 competition applications, innovative projects have been submitted for Competition “Leonardo da Vinci”. Of these, 341 projects were from regions of Georgia and 916 – from Tbilisi.
The competition is implemented in two directions – scientific research and engineering. The submitted competition applications cover the following scientific directions: chemistry, biochemistry, astronomy, cosmology, physics, engineering mechanics, robotics, artificial intelligence, etc.
