Chairman of Sakpatenti Awarded the Finalist Team “Green Star” of the Millennium Innovation Award 2023

The Millennium Innovation Award (MIA) was held for the ninth time this year. Sakpatenti is the constant and active supporter of the competition. Every year the National Intellectual Property Center awards finalist teams and for already the third year participates in the evaluation of the competition projects and selection of the winning teams. The objective of the Millennium Innovation Award competition is to stimulate creation of innovations and new technologies among youth and to promote interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) disciplines. The Competition is organized by the Millennium Foundation, which implements the project in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and with the financial support of the U.S. Embassy.
The winners of the Millennium Innovation Award 2023 are: the third place - the team “Optical Visionaries”, who created a robot ophthalmologist. The device includes a mini-diagnostic mobile system. The second-place winning team is “FSTF (From Seeable To Feelable)”. The pupils created a portable device that translates printed texts into Braille in real time, thus making the texts more accessible to the blind. The main winner of the competition became the team “TerraTech”. The team created a mining robot and a smart uniform to ensure a safe working environment for miners.
Sakpatenti revealed its favorite team “Green Star” from the finalists of the competition. At the competition the team presented a piezoceramic droplet dispenser. The device automatically counts drops with high accuracy. It can be implemented in such important fields where it is necessary to mix the exact amount of components included in the solution, in particular: in pharmacy, cooking, perfumery, as well as in hydroponics and aeroponics. The instructor of the team is Darejan Lordkipanidze, the members of the team are pupils from Tbilisi Cervantes School-Lyceum “AIA-GESS”, Tbilisi Georgian-American International School Progress, Kutaisi Georgian-American School Progress, Tbilisi School Mermisi and Senaki Saint Aleksi Shushania Orthodox School-Gymnasium.
The Chairman of Sakpatenti Mr. Soso Giorgadze congratulated the team members - Nikoloz Sikharulidze, Ekaterine Lezhava, Maxim Kutsnashvili, Keso Abuladze and Mariam Pipia on their victory with the special prizes instituted by Sakpatenti.
The Millennium Innovation Award is implemented since 2014 and over 2,000 pupils of upper grades from public and private schools of Georgia have participated in it so far. The teams submitted projects in the following directions of STEM disciplines: Space and Aviation, Cyber-technologies and Safety, Environment, Energy and Climate Change, Healthcare and Nutrition, Applied Technologies and Applications, Robotics.
