Within the Unified Program of the State Language Three-day Training was Held at Sakpatenti Head Office

Within the framework of the Unified Program of the State Language, three-day training was held at Sakpatenti Head Office in Mtskheta. The purpose of the training was to introduce to the staff of the Office the rules of transcription-transliteration of foreign languages developed by the State Language Department and the updated norms of the literary language and to deepen their knowledge in this direction. The training was planned and organized on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Sakpatenti and the State Language Department.
14 staff members from different departments of Sakpatenti participated in the training, the teaching process was led by Ms. Tinatin Bolkvadze, Head of the Scientific-Educational Programmes Service of the State Language Department, Professor of Tbilisi State University.
During the training, the participants received extensive information regarding the main criteria of transcription-transliteration of sound systems of foreign languages into Georgian. In the teaching process, attention was focused on the guidelines for transcription-transliteration of the phonetic system of the English language and the syllable system of the Chinese language into the Georgian language. In addition, at the interactive meetings, the issues of writing foreign proper names in Georgian were overviewed, other updated norms of the literary language and stylistic issues of official documentation were discussed.
The knowledge gained at the above-mentioned training will help the staff members of Sakpatenti to use correctly the state language in their activities and to observe the language norms, it will contribute to raising their qualification and facilitate their professional development in this regard. Close cooperation of Sakpatenti with the State Language Department will continue in future as well.
