WIPO Annual Global Awards Call for Applications is Open

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has announced the Global Awards 2024. The purpose of the competition is to promote the use of the potential of intellectual property in entrepreneurial activities. The competition will reveal companies, individuals, inventors, authors and entrepreneurs, who by their innovative or creative activities facilitate progress and contribute to the well-being of the society. The competition demonstrates their achievements attained through the use of intellectual property, in particular, opportunities of receiving income, job creation, solving local and global challenges by supporting innovation, creative industries, investment and business. 

The competition is free of charge and is open for small and medium-sized enterprises, startups and entrepreneurs from around the world and from all industries. 

It is possible to submit applications for participation in the competition until March 31, 2024. The online application form is available in English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese. The nominees and winners of the competition will be selected by an independent international jury, which includes highly competent persons, having great achievements and experience. The jury will shortlist finalists in the second week of May of the current year and information about will be published on WIPO media platforms. Up to seven winners will be revealed at the end of May. Each winner will be invited to attend the awards ceremony and other networking events at WIPO in Geneva, as well as will be provided a personalized mentorship program to scale up IP commercialization and business growth, and support to facilitate access to funding and business partnership opportunities. This will be a unique opportunity for startups to gain international recognition and visibility. 

The Global Awards competition was held for the first time in 2022, and in just two years since then, WIPO’s Global Awards Program has become the most prestigious industry award dedicated to promote the use and commercialization of intellectual property for sustainable development of small businesses.
