Sakpatenti is a Supporter of the Basque-Georgian Gastronomic Congress

Sakpatenti representatives took part in the Basque-Georgian Gastronomic Congress. The main culinary event of 2024 –“Culinary Connection Euskadi-Georgia”, one of the active supporters of which was Sakpatenti, was held in Kakheti on March 2-3. The purpose of the Congress was to present the traditional culinary and wines of Georgia and the Basque Country, taking into account modern tendencies and methodologies, to develop enogastrotourism, Georgian cuisine and to share experience. It should be noted that the event will foster promotion of products marked with Georgian geographical indications and appellations of origin, increasing of their export potential, establishment of connections between countries in the direction of culinary culture and formation of business relations.
This purpose was served by panel discussions, presentations and a culinary show, held within the Congress, led by famous Basque and Georgian chefs. The master classes were conducted by master chefs and sommeliers from leading restaurants and hotels of the Basque Country and Georgia. Within the project, the focus was on Georgian products. In particular, master chefs prepared dishes with products protected by geographical indications and appellations of origin, these products were also exhibited in the event hall of the Congress, where the exhibition corner of Sakpatenti was arranged. On the stand of the office, visual and informational materials related to geographical indications were presented. In addition, the corner of Sakpatenti was represented by Tushetian Guda cheese, which was exhibited by Guda producers, participating in the joint project of Sakpatenti and the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Within the Congress, enogastronomic tours for representatives of the Basque Culinary Center, Basque chefs and sommeliers were organized in Kakheti, as well as sightseeing events were held. The Congress hosted more than 250 guests, including chefs from hotels and restaurants from all regions of Georgia.
The event was held on the initiative of Mr. David Songulashvili, Member of the Parliament, it was supported by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the National Tourism Administration of Georgia, the City Hall of Gurjaani Municipality and the Basque Government, and was organized by the Basque Culinary Center and the Mantala Basque Gastronomy initiative.
