Within the visit of the representatives of the evaluation mission of the European Union project EU4IP (“Strengthening Intellectual Property Rights in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine to Support EU Accession”), the Project leader Mr. Ibon Ormazabal is visiting Georgia. The objective of the mission is to meet with stakeholders and hold technical discussions for drafting the action plan for the first year.
During the visit, working meetings were held with Sakpatenti Chairman and heads of structural divisions at Sakpatenti Head Office in Mtskheta. In addition, official meetings are planned with representatives of the High School of Justice, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Environmental Protection ad Agriculture, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Chamber of Commerce, the European Business Association (EBA), the Bar Association, the National Communications Commission, the Office of the Prosecutor General, the Revenue Service and the Ministry of Finance.
The mission was preceded by the visit of Sakpatenti Chairman to the capital of Moldova, where on the basis of the successful results achieved within the EU-Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP) with the duration of three years, the official launch of the new regional project EU4IP took place.
The project, with a total budget of EUR 4 million, aims to contribute to an adequate and effective level of registration, protection and enforcement of IP rights in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, to leverage IP to create a favourable environment for innovation, creativeness and free competition. This cooperation will pave the way for accession of the three candidate countries to the European Union and the European Union IP Network (EUIPN).
